CHAINSAW TRAINING Level 2 – FALL TREES MANUALLY

Chainsaw training

In this course you will develop the skills and knowledge required to assess, plan and safely carry out manual tree-felling operations using a chain saw.

It is an introductory or base level unit that covers the felling procedures for relatively small trees with a low level of complexity.  Techniques for trees with a diameter greater than the bar length, while not excluded, would generally be regarded as techniques beyond the scope of this unit.

Course includes:

  • WHS legislative and organisational requirements to safely operate hand held chainsaws and fall trees safely,
  • site and material assessment,
  • correct cutting techniques,
  • equipment checking and maintenance,
  • tree assessment and hazard identification.

This course involves tree felling in a variety of work settings, which may include a forest, agricultural, domestic, local council, and emergency services and other government agency environment. With the exception of minor forest produce, it is not considered a suitable level for commercial harvesting operations.

These skills and knowledge are to be used within the scope of the person’s job and authority.

Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the Statement of Attainment FWPCOT2236 Fall trees manually (basic)

Course duration:  2 days (14 hours) face-to-face training
