  • 1-day practical assessment within 90 days

Students will be provided with a logbook and Statement of Completion (SOC) by the trainer after the second day of the course. The statement of completion (SOC) is valid for 3 months. The student is then required to provide the College with their Supporting evidence tool (logbook & evidence) within 90 days, before accessing a FINAL live site for assessment. Students are required to source their own access to a live site occasions, before returning for their final assessment. If this is not possible, please contact the college.

Note:

  • To sign off for Traffic Controller
    • assessors must ensure that the candidate controls traffic on an approved TCGS/TCP on 2 occasions, in varying circumstances and conditions.
  • To sign off for ITCPs
    • assessors must ensure that the candidate Implemented monitored and removed a TCGS/TCP for a ‘live project’ on 3 occasions in the workplace.

You are required to have a white card to attend a live site and undertake your assessment – this will need to be sighted by the trainer. If you don’t have a white card please contact our office or visit this link to see upcoming White Card courses with us:  http://southcoastcolleges.edu.au/course/construction-white-card-cic/

To be clear, the new entrant course is 2 days training, plus a third practical assessment day around 2 months later (the College will book you in for this after you have attended the first 2 days). The SOC you will be issued after the 2 day training, allows you to immediately work controlling traffic with a stop/slow bat and to Implement Traffic Control Plans while awaiting assessment. This is how you will complete the logbook. Students will need the logbook completed on a real live traffic control site and signed by a manager/supervisor of a traffic control company. You can use work-experience or paid employment for this. Students are required to source their own access to a live site. If this is not possible, please contact the college. RMS is specific, that at least on one of these occasions, your observation is conducted by an RMS approved trainer/assessor through direct observation in the workplace (our live site), therefore only a maximum of 1 testimonial will be accepted and the participant must attend our live site for final assessment.

The RMS will issue photo cards and post to students within 2 weeks of successful completion.

The courses above are available as standalone skill sets or as a combination course, in which the participant will receive both the Work Zone Traffic Control – Traffic Controller Skill Set AND Implement Traffic Control Guidance Plan Skill Set.

South Coast Careers College Traffic Control Courses are held on the NSW South East Coast in Batemans Bay and Merimbula.
