COURSE OUTLINE – Yoga for Relaxation
This course will explore simple techniques for mental and physical relaxation and rejuvenation. Learn easy, gentle restorative poses and breathing practices to help reduce anxiety, stress, and tension in the mind and body. Quieten your mind, relax your body, calm and soothe your nervous system. Suitable for all, beginners welcome.
In our fast-paced lives, our bodies and minds are under constant stimulation and stress, as we operate much of the time in our sympathetic nervous systems or adrenal-driven “fight or flight” response. This puts relentless hormonal and physical stress on our body systems and contributes to common disorders such as anxiety, depression, headaches, low energy, digestive problems, heart disease and sleep problems.
By consciously inviting the body’s relaxation response we can start to remedy this situation. Quiet, gentle, still restorative yoga and breathing can trigger our parasympathetic nervous system. This is the rest and digest system which helps bring the body back into balance and reduce stress in the body and mind. The antidote to stress is to relax deeply.
We rarely allow ourselves the time to slow down and rest so that our bodies, minds, hearts and souls can truly relax and renew. This course is ideal for anybody craving physical and mental relaxation, and the space to go deeper into themselves.
